Ghost Tour

I recently watched an interview with Tom Underwood, who shot one of the most compelling videos ever of a residual haunting. I've seen this footage many times, but actually seeing and hearing from the man that shot it, really added to its credibility.

The filming took place just before dusk in October of 2001 on Triangular Field
in the Gettysburg National Military Park. According to Mr. Underwood, he and his wife, Delia noticed unusually bright flashes of light in the forest that could not be explained by either fireflies or motorized vehicles. Tom set up his video camera and the rest is ghostie history.

Ghost Theory.com has a brief, unedited interview with Delia Underwood
here.

As an added bonus, here's Keyboard Cat Does The Shining...

Ooh, you gave me chills (and a good laugh in between with the Keyboard Cat does The Shining) with the flashes of light video and the story of Irma's husband's death. Until I started reading about and watching shows on paranormal activity I never knew about the flashes of light. I just posted about ghosts/hauntings/paranormal activity, too.

Way more fascinating, interesting and productive would be learning what actually causes phenomena such as this leaving terms such as "ghost" to watching movies like Ghostbusters (or even Ghost if you're wired that way).

Ghost- no such animal.

I know this is a "comments" page and not Grouchy Opinion Page- just a minor irritant for me I guess.

When I was a kid my friends alcoholic father would forget to pick us up from their isolated farm after a day of exploring and shooting .22s. This allowed a lot of extra time exploring and maybe made us more in tune with our surroundings as well. This farm was known for mutilated cattle WAY back in the day as well as some Indian atrocities way, WAY back in the day- definite ghost hunting grounds.

As we dropped into a V shaped gulley that had a an isolated plateau of land in the mouth of the V with a perfect looking evergreen tree in the center of that same plateau we heard voices plain as day coming from that tree.

With our rifles levelled (we were scared to death of the satanists or aliens either one that did the cattle mutilations having seen the cattle victims ourselves) we walked all around that tree. The sound of the voices were constant all around it and got somewhat louder when we crawled under the bottom branches to look around the trunk. The voices definitely seemed to eminate from the center of that tree. We could almost make out words occasionally.

There were we thought 3-4 adult males and a younger male or grown female. We weren't sure they weren't speaking a foreign language as we thought later we should have understood them due to the clarity and volume of their speech.

When we told that story back then we had some minor fame among our fellow dimwits in elementary school and his mom was afraid to let us go back. "Those were GHOSTS!" many, many people said. In person I can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck with this one because it's true simple, hard to explain and original.

But, it wasn't ghosts.
And the satanists and aliens? How about some cruel, imbicilic people with way too much time on their hands who were getting WAY too much attention and basically being absolved of their crimes while more copycats are assured while a gullible public worries about satanic and good grief- alien threats!

Oh man, I just ranted. Excuse me please.

The End

I don't know what I think about ghosts myself, but my grad school roommate grew up in a small town very near the Gettysburg battlefield, and she and her friends used to go to the battlefield to watch the ghosts of Civil War soldiers wander around. Apparently, it was that common to see ghosts there. Now again, I don't know what to make of that comment, but she wasn't someone who had an unbalanced belief in ghosts or aliens or other-wordly things. And she said this very mater-of-factly. Just, oh yeah, we'd go to Gettysburg to see the Civil War ghosts walk around, looking dejected and lost. And I'm looking at her like, WTF?!

mama- yes and often. it always gave me the creeps and even though it's been cleared over and a house built in the center of it we go near the place every so often to take my children to the public lands near there. spooky, still very spooky.
